The National Air Toxics Information Clearinghouse
EPA, in cooperation with the State and Territorial Air Pollution Program Administrators (STAPPA) and Association of Local Air Pollution Control Officials (ALAPCO), is developing a clearinghouse to facilitate the exchange of information on ''toxic'' air pollutants. Regulation of these pollutants has moved slowly because of the many uncertainties involved in decision-making. Nonetheless, state and local air pollution control agencies have had a continuing need to respond to air toxics issues and some agencies have developed, or are in the process of developing, regulatory control programs for toxic air pollutants. In recognition of state and local agency needs for technical information and because STAPPA and ALAPCO, and a number of individual local and state agencies have approached EPA for assistance, EPA is establishing the National Air Toxics Information Clearinghouse.
