This patent describes a signal processing apparatus coupled to a component for applying a voltage across the component, the component having an impedance and whose output decreases when the frequency of an input signal increases past a first frequency, the apparatus comprising: signal means for providing a signal having a range of frequencies; a source transmission line having a characteristic impedance and being coupled to the signal means, and a coupling impedance coupled to the source transmission line, the signal means, the source transmission line and the coupling impedance defining a source impedance; and a component transmission line coupled between the coupling impedance and the component. The patent also describes a similar apparatus wherein the component comprises a semiconductor laser diode.
