Scrap tires can yield marketable products

In this article, details are given on the problem and magnitude of discarded tires. New uses for old tires are discussed, such as: rubber in asphalt mixtures, generation of steam for new tire production; distilling the tires for carbon black and hydrocarbons; and old tires as reefs. The Rubber Reclaimers Association, their concepts and experiments are also described.
