Interactions between catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of benzofuran and hydrodesulfurization of dibenzothiophene

The catalytic removal of oxygen from benzofuran (BF) is much more difficult than the catalytic removal of sulfur from dibenzothiophene (DBT) under the same conditions in an equimolar feedstream. The oxygenate, benzofuran, inhibits dibenzothiophene hydrodesulfurzation (HDS) relatively strongly.
