User manual for SILVA: a computer code for estimating effects of pollution on the growth and succession of western coniferous forests

SILVA is a computer code developed for simulating impacts of SO/sub 2/ pollution on the growth and succession of western coniferous forests. SILVA has been specifically parameterized for application to the ponderosa pine and mixed conifer forests of the Sierra Nevada, California. JABOWA, a code for simulating northeastern USA forests, was used as a framework for SILVA. This user manual describes sample inputs: code structure; data, dynamic, control, and internal variables; sample output; and considerations for setup at the user's computer installation. A listing of the source program and descriptions of all subroutines and functions are presented.
