Marketers report disturbing increase in past-due money owed by customers

In a little-talked about but unmistakable development, LP-gas marketers in many places nationwide have been reporting a greater number of past-due receivables and delinquent accounts than usual, mostly as a result of higher prices charged for propane during last winter's supply crisis. The monthly gallonage survey presented gives initial glimpses into the cash-flow problems that LP-gas marketers have been experiencing. A number of additional telephone calls confirmed the suspicion that late payments for fuel delivered during the winter are plaguing many suppliers.
