Catalytic cracking of heavy petroleum fractions
This text is designed as an introduction to catalytic cracking concepts and technology for students, scientists, and engineers. Beginning with a background on the development of catalysts and their general properties; the author explains the basic reaction schemes and mechanisms, thermodynamics, and kinetics. This is followed with a discussion of the factors of affecting reactor performance and a study and description of moving bed and fluidized bed cracking units. Contents are: cracking catalysts-past, present, and future; physico-chemical characteristics of hydrocarbon cracking; key operating variables and their effects on reactor and regeneration section performance; industrial catalytic cracking plants.
