Patent ·
OSTI ID:6035400
This patent describes an apparatus for burning fuel to provide heat. It comprises: a housing defining a firebox within the housing for the burning; at least one intake air pathway joining the exterior of the housing with the firebox; at least one exhaust pathway joining the firebox with the exterior of the housing; a controllable member associated with the intake pathway and controllably movable for alternately closing and opening such pathway; and control means, operatively associated with the controllable member, for controlling the air flow within the intake pathway. A stove having a combustor comprises: a firebox for burning fuel to produce heat and combustion gasses; an intake air pathway for providing primary air flow to the firebox and secondary air flow to the combustor; and means associated with the combustor for providing a balanced flow of a mixture of the combustion gasses and the secondary air flow across the surface of the combustor; wherein the stove further comprises an exhaust pathway connectable with a chimney associated therewith.
