Does NGC 1275 have a double nucleus

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. Lett. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

Inspection of recent radio-interferometer results and emission-line profiles indicates that NGC 1275 has a double nucleus. Its mass would then be approx. =3x10/sup 8/ Matsub sunat. The fact that the nucleus may be double precludes several hypotheses that have been proposed for the nature of active nuclei and quasars.
