Spin waves in superfluid /sup 3/He-B in a rotating cylinder

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
Spin-wave modes in the presence of a ''flare-out'' n texture in /sup 3/He-B in a cylinder are analyzed theoretically. It is shown that this texture gives rise to a series of equally spaced satellites in the transverse NMR experiment. When the cylinder is rotated around its axis, singular vortex lines generate local superflow around each vortex, which modifies the curvature of the n texture. It is shown that when the vortex-line density is at equilibrium the spacing between satellites increases approximately linearly with the angular speed ..cap omega.., which interprets the recent Helsinki NMR data in rotating /sup 3/He-B, of Ikkala et al.
