An improved fuel-air admission assembly having a plate disposed along the longitudinal axis of the coal delivery pipe is disclosed. The leading edge of the plate is orientated across the inlet end of the coal delivery pipe so that the high coal concentration portion of the primary air-pulverized coal stream discharging along the outer radius of the main fuel pipe outlet elbow is separated from the low coal concentration portion of the primary air-pulverized coal stream discharging along the inner radius of the main fuel pipe outlet elbow. The trailing edge of the plate is orientated across the outlet end of the coal delivery pipe so that the high and low coal concentration streams are directed into the furnace through separate nozzles.
