This is the third volume of a series of reports containing the proceedings of the Focused Research Program on ''Spectral Theory and Boundary Value Problems,'' which was held at Argonne National Laboratory during the period 1986-1987. The program was organized by the Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS) Division as part of its activities in applied analysis. The objective of the program was to provide an opportunity for research and exchange of views, problems, and ideas in three main areas of investigation: the theory of singular Sturm-Liouville equations, the asymptotic analysis of the Titchmarsh-Weyl m(lambda)-coefficient, and the qualitative theory of nonlinear differential equations. These proceedings are the permanent record of the research stimulated by the year-long program. Eleven papers from these proceedings have been processed separately elsewhere.
