Erosion study in turbomachinery affected by coal ash particles. Annual progress report, October 1, 1977-October 1, 1978

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6019031
This Annual Report describes, in general, the progress during the period from October 1, 1977 to October 1, 1978. In order to provide basis for alloy selection in future turbines using pulverized coal, an investigation is undertaken to obtain the basic understanding of the mechanisms of erosion at ambient and high temperatures. The test equipments have been designed in such a way that they can simulate the aerodynamic and thermodynamic conditions in the turbine. In addition the dynamic behavior of the solid (ash) particles through the turbine are discussed.
