The manual describes guidelines and standardized procedures for conducting on-site audits and evaluations of laboratories performing toxicity tests. Included are pre-survey information activities, on-site evaluation activities, evaluation criteria, organizational history and laboratory staff, facilities, equipment, instruments, supplies, culturing and testing methodology, sample collection, handling, preservation, preparation, quality assurance and data handling, safety and general practices, evaluation report and performance rating. Supplementary information on chain-of-custody guidelines, quality control checklist for self-biomonitoring toxicity tests, standard operating procedures (SOPs) format, culturing criteria SOP format, pre-survey information forms, on-site laboratory evaluation forms and checklists, and on-site toxicity test conditions and test acceptability criteria checklists is provided in the Appendices.
