Synthetic metals based on tetramethyltetraselenafulvalene(TMTSF): synthesis, structure (T = 298 and 125 K), and novel properties of (TMTSF)/sub 2/H/sub 2/F/sub 3/

The synthesis and molecular structure as a function of temperature (T = 298K and 125K) of the unique tetramethyltetraselenafulvalene organic radical cation salt (TMTSF)/sub 2/H/sub 2/F/sub 3/ is discussed in this report. The relationship between the structure and the unusual physical properties of (TMTSF)/sub 2/H/sub 2/F/sub 3/, and of its sometimes superconducting cogeners, is also discussed.
