The development of an energy policy in New Mexico is followed. In April 1972, an Energy Task Force was organized to conduct studies concerning natural resource inventories, alternative power sources, energy requirements, transmission corridors, potential curtailments, transportation and population growth. Then in 1975, the New Mexico Legislature passed the Energy Resources Act creating the Energy Resources Board. A summary of projects of the Board is given. These are: natural gas, Project Conserve, carpooling--vanpooling, fuel allocation, building codes, energy impact, and research and development projects. (MCW)
