Distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the surficial sediments of Casco Bay, Maine

In this communication, levels of 16 priority PAH's (US Environmental Protection Agency 1977) from the surficial sediments of Casco Bay, Maine are presented. Casco Bay is a 400 sq. km. embayment in the Gulf of Maine which includes Portland harbor, a major oil port and the principal fishing port in Maine. Recent data are presently available on the distribution of trace metals, PCB's and benthic fauna in Casco Bay.
