New simple modes of nuclear excitation have become known, along with some new phenomena, such as vibration. This book examines advances in nuclear physics, the impacts of nuclear physics on other disciplines and society, and current frontiers of nuclear research. New accelerator plans, support of instrumentation, and the need for increased support of nuclear theory are addressed.
