Fuel nitrogen mechanisms during the fuel rich combustion of pulverized coal

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6003669
Effects of coal composition on fuel nitrogen mechanisms during fuel rich combustion of pulverized coal were experimentally investigated in a 2 kg/hr down fired combustor. Although there is some variation from coal to coal, the data support the hypothesis that N/sub 2/ and NH/sub 3/ formation and NO destruction follow the Fenimore mechanism. HCN destruction is also consistent with Fenimore, although there appears to be a source causing HCN formation.
