A Moessbauer spectrometer for studies over a wide temperature range (from /minus/180 to +400/degree/C) is described. The spectrometer employs a solid-state detector /emdash/ a VEU-6 secondary multiplier - in a vacuum chamber. A system for specimen cooling and heating, which is located outside of the vacuum chamber, allows the absorber temperature to be maintained over the entire temperature range with an accuracy of /plus minus/5/degree/C. With an absorber of /alpha/-Fe that had been enriched to 90% by /sup 57/Fe, the resonance effect of the first and sixth lines was 270% for a line width at half-maximum of 0.3 mm/sec. The count rate with a /sup 57/Co(Cr) source with an activity of 50 mCi was 2000 pulses/sec. The spectrometer was tested on absorbing foils of TN-1K alloy.
