This report investigated the deep oxidation of mixtures of saturated hydrocarbons which differ in their oxidation mechanisms. Binary mixtures of n-pentane and p-xylene and cyclohexane and p-xylene, and tertiary mixtures of n-pentane, cyclohexane and p-xylene were used in this study. The work carried out here has shown the possibility of constructing kinetic models for the oxidation of mixtures of organic compounds from individual compound oxidation models, involving different adsorptional competition mechanisms. Data was obtained on the kinetics of the joint, deep oxidation of n-pentane, cyclohexane, and p-xylene on an aluminum/platinum catalyst in a circulating-flow reactor. The oxidation of each of these compounds can be described by a single equation.
