This patent describes a selective injection packer apparatus. This packer consists of: 1.) a housing having a longitudinal housing bore therethrough; 2.) a mandrel having a longitudinal mandrel bore therethrough, and is slidably disposed in the housing bore; 3.) upper and lower longitudinally spaced compressible packer disposed about the housing; 4.) a power piston, operably associated with the housing and the upper and lower packer, for longitudinally compressing and radially expanding the upper and lower packer, in response to a change in fluid pressure within the mandrel bore; 5.) a power passage, operatively associated with the power piston, for selectively communicating the mandrel bore and the power piston; 6.) an injection passage, operatively associated with the housing and the mandrel, for selectively communicating the mandrel bore with a first exterior surface of the housing between the upper and lower packer; and 7.) a release passage, operatively associated with the housing and the mandrel, for selectively communicating a second exterior surface of the housing, not between the upper and lower packer. Both the power passage and the injection passage concurrently balance fluid pressures on the power piston and the upper and lower packer.
