Title: It's not easy being green or brown

While prices for recovered glass have often fluctuated year to year, one thing has remained constant: Green glass cullet always lags behind. Through much of 1991 and 1992, glass prices were depressed for brown and clear glass, but neither was hit as hard as the green cullet market. By the end of 1991, the price of recovered green glass was at zero in most regions of the country. By mid-1992, processors in some regions of the country were paying end users to take their green cullet. Since then, prices for both green and brown cullet have rebounded, but periodic problems with oversupply still exist in some regions of the country.
