Triply excited bound state of He/sup -/ and the isoelectronic sequence

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., A; (United States)
The energy level of the /sup 4/S/sup o/ state of He/sup -/ is found to be lower than that of the (2p2p) /sup 3/P state of He by about 0.328 eV. It is metastable against autoionization and decays through radiation to the triply excited autoionization state of /sup 4/P/sup e/ and its associated continuum. For Li and three-electron positive ions, the /sup 4/S/sup o/ state also decays to the doubly excited /sup 4/P/sup e/ bound state. The energy levels of these states are calculated and transition wavelengths are also predicted.
