Nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons and chiral Lagrangians

Nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons are examined in a chiral theory. The strong-interaction Lagrangian is taken invariant with respect to transformations of the group SU (4) x SU (4). Symmetry breaking is chosen according to the simplest representation (4,4*)+(4*,4) of SU (4) x SU (4). The weak-interaction Lagrangian is taken in the ''current x current'' form and satisfies the vertical-bar..delta..Ivertical-bar=1 rule exactly in the ''ideal'' case theta/sub c/=0. The calculated decay probabilities for D, F, and eta/sub c/ mesons are compared with available experimental data.
