Wastewater plant powers cogeneration system with digester gas

Journal Article · · Power; (United States)
OSTI ID:5993962
Municipal wastewater-treatment plants have become a fertile area for small cogeneration systems. Secondary treatment processes produce methane gas, much of it wasted in the past, which is now being used to power engine and turbine/generator sets. Joining this trend toward energy self-sufficiency is the city of San Diego's Point Loma sewage-treatment facility.
