Utilization of magnetic effects as a means of isotope enrichment. Annual technical progress report, July 1, 1982-June 30, 1983. [Dibenzyl ketone and substituted dibenzyl ketone on silica and zeolite]

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5991753
Major research emphasis has been directed toward identifying new reaction environments that are suitable for the observation of large magnetic isotope effects. We have explored solid surfaces, such as porous silica and zeolites, as environments which might serve as closed reaction spaces for enhancement of magnetic isotope effects. Our preliminary findings are very encouraging and will serve as a platform for future research. The following current research is discussed: values of isotope enrichment parameter ..cap alpha.. for photolysis of dibenzyl ketone on solid surfaces; values of ..cap alpha.. for substituted dibenzyl ketones in various environments; /sup 13/C enrichment in 1-phenyl-4-methylacetophenone. 1 figure, 3 tables.
