Tests show differences in cyclones

Demonstrates that flow-rate has a direct bearing on the efficiency of a desilter or desander, except when in the Newtonian region (which in itself requires low viscosity and higher flow rates). With results of these analyses and information such as changes in viscosity, flow rate or pressure, and percent solids, comparisons of hydrocyclones could easily be made and correlation of these different effects derived. Emphasizes that flocculating in hydrocyclones is not recommended because flocculants will increase the viscosity of muds for a very short time before shearing back to a lower viscosity.
