The intent of the present bibliography is threefold: to assist persons new to the field of offshore petroleum engineering in identifying background publications; to provide persons already involved in the field with additional, hard-to-find references as well as information about the most recent publications in the field as of November 1977; and to provide librarians and others involved in collection building with the basic information needed for setting up and maintaining a collection in this subject area. The major part of this publication consists of a bibliography arranged by broad subject area, most subject sections being further divided into more specific subject subsections. Publications have also been separated by form within each subsection and have been listed under the format heatings of Conferences, Books, or Reports, or in the case of part of section G, Films and Slides. Each publication cited includes all the information needed for ordering it, with the exception of the publisher's addresses, which can be found in the section: Directory of Publishers of Other Organizations. Some of the topics included are oceanography, hydrodynamics, offshore petroleum engineering and development, underwater pipelines, materials, submersibles, diving, underwater and deep ocean operations, oil spills, ocean law and management, seafloor engineering, seafloor profiting, and oil well records.
