A nonlinear relativistic excitation of longitudinal electrostatic electron plasma wave at the beat frequency of two laser beams has been studied in a hot, collisionless, and homogeneous plasma. The nonlinearity has been taken through the ponderomotive force on electrons in the relativistic Vlasov equation. It is observed that the power conversion efficiency of the excited electron plasma wave is much higher for the relativistic calculation than that for the nonrelativistic calculations.
