This paper presents methods of protecting the elements of an electric power system through proper selection of fuses. To determine the proper type and class of fuse, the engineer must know the type of load served from circuit and the type of system elements to be protected. Feeder circuit protection is discussed for all motors and mixed load circuits. Busway protection is addressed and short circuit current ratings are listed.
