The report on the status of geologic knowledge about Jackass Flats and Calico Hills has been completed by USGS and is being reviewed internally prior to submittal to NV. Review of geophysical (draped aeromagnetic) data has shown the magnetic anomaly of Calico Hills to be more complex than could be determined from the earlier high-altitude survey. Field examination to refine and update existing geologic mapping of Yucca Mountain and to select the site for an exploratory hole was accomplished. Work was started on an exploratory core hole to determine the location of the fuel storage drift for the Spent Fuel Test in the Climax Stock at the 1460-foot level.
