Fuel cell
A fuel cell including a unit cell is described that comprises: a matrix member impregnated with an electrolyte; a pair of electrodes disposed to oppose through the matrix member; a pair of separators disposed to oppose through the matrix member and the pair of electrodes; and a pair of gas paths formed between the separators and the electrodes and supplied with a reaction gas. Each of the pair of separators has matrix support portions provided at both ends in a direction perpendicular to the gas paths. The support portions are pressed in contact with the matrix member so as to support the member, thereby sealing the reaction gas, and each of the separators further having at least one additional support portion pressed in contact with the matrix member so as to support the matrix member between the support portions of both the ends. At least one additional support portion divides the electrode so that the unit cell is formed by sub-unit cells electrically in parallel.
