Color-dielectric parameter in (2+1)-dimensional QCD

We describe a study of the color-dielectric parameter epsilon in (2+1)-dimensional QCD, based on the Schwinger-Dyson equations. With the help of the Ward identities in the axial gauge, we conclude that epsilon(q/sup 2/) displays a (q/sup 2/)/sup -1/2/ singularity in the infrared limit. This behavior yields confinement of color charges via constant chromoelectric fields at large distances.
