The separated oscillatory field technique is used with a fast 120 keV He/sup +/ beam and a miniature microwave spectroscopy region to make a zero magnetic field measurement of the n=4 Lamb shift interval in He/sup +/. The result of the measurement, 1769.16(0.84)MHz, is an agreement with the theoretical calculations and the previous experimental determinations. The experimental uncertainty is dominated by systematic effects attributed to the presence of overlapping cascade signals. A study of these systematic effects was made and at present an understanding of them is incomplete. With more experimental data, it is believed that these systematic effects can be understood. With an understanding of these systematic effects, a measurement uncertainty of 0.17MHz (100 ppM) can readily be obtained.
