OSTI ID:5978037
A control method of controlling output of a pump in a vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine, a battery, a starter motor powered by the battery for starting up the engine, and a hydraulically actuated automatic transmission system including a hydraulic fluid pump for supplying pressurized fluid is described. The pump is adapted to be driven either by the engine or a pump drive motor powered by the battery. The method comprises the steps of: deciding whether or not the engine is being started by the starter motor; and decreasing the output of the pump when it is thus decided that the engine is being started.
