The Centralized Reliability Data Organization (CREDO) is a data base for reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) analyses for component groups from liquid-metal reactors and test facilities. It has been operational since the late 1970s at Oak Ridge National Laboratory under the JOSHUA data manager system (a hierarchical structure data manager) and three generations of IBM mainframes. Due to a software dependency of the JOSHUA precompiler and an ongoing data exchange program with the Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation of Japan, it became necessary to choose a new data-base management system (DBMS) to support the CREDO data. This paper describes the DBMS conversion process and compares the functionality of the old CREDO data-base management system (JOSHUA) with that of the new one.
