Title: Effect of the substrate on the thermal stability of thin selenium-containing films

Journal Article · · Inorg. Mater. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5975777

This work is a continuation of previous studies and is devoted to the study of the dependence of the thermal stability of selenium and selenium-tellurium films on the material of the electrically conducting coating, which consisted of nickel, platinum, and indium trioxide, deposited by the method of ionic sputtering in a vacuum on a polyethylene terephthalate base. The electrophotographic sensitivity of the films was determined. It was found that the thermal stability of selenium and selenium-tellurium films is not the same and depends on the type of substrate. Heating causes coalescence decomposition in films less than 0.1 micrometers thick, and an amorphous-state-crystal phase transition occurs in the films greater than 0.1 micrometers thick.
