Observation of distorted steps (''wiggle-like'' structure) in the I-V characteristic of Pb/In-oxide-Pb and other Josephson junctions subjected to microwave radiation is reported. Such structure is also found with an electronic analog based on the R(C)SJ model if the Stewart-McCumber parameter ..beta../sub c/> or approx. =0.5 and simultaneously the Hamilton-Johnson condition for substeps, ..omega../sub r/CRapprox. =1, is fulfilled. The frequency spectrum of the analog's Josephson oscillation exhibits new lines and considerable noise when wiggles appear.
