Electrochemical heterogeneity of pipe steel weld joints in hydrogen-sulfide-containing media

The data obtained in this investigation makes it possible to conclude that the electrochemical behavior of weld joints of the steels studied in the hydrogen-sulfide-containing media is similar. The zones of overheating possess the most negative potential and the zones of fusion adjoining them have the least negative electrode potential. The nature of the electrochemical heterogeneity is determined by the structural condition of the weld joints. The zones of overheating have the most nonequilibrium structure, high hardness, and the highest corrosion rate. Post-welding annealing has a more significant influence on the electrochemical behavior of weld joints of 60X and 09KhG2NABCh steels than of weld joints of 20 and 17G1S steels.
