Homeostatic control for electric power usage
Journal Article
·
· IEEE Spectrum; (United States)
Describes how microprocessors could be used in a control system which would continually update electric rates, based on supply and demand, and provide continual communication of those rates to customers by the electric utility. Benefits would include lower operating costs and capital investments, and options for lower customer rates. Homeostatic control would also create an energy marketplace which would encourage the use of diverse energy sources and harmonize generating systems with the customers in relation to unexpected changes in fuel costs and technology.
