Angular distributions for the /sup 16/O(/sup 12/C, /sup 8/Be)/sup 20/Ne reactions leading to the first O/sup +/, 2/sup +/, and 4/sup +/ states of /sup 20/Ne were measured in 86 keV steps for 15.8 to 18.8 MeV. Cross sections are also measured at 40 angles from 13 to 165/sup 0/. The various resonance structures and their spins and parities are considered. It is concluded that the proposed quasimolecular rotational bands are unsupported both in spin and parity assignments and in the number of resonances observed. 2 references. (JFP)
