Work toward designing passive and hybrid solar space heating and daylighting into prefabricated buildings is described. Systems considered include one-sided and two-sided roof apertures and a wall-mounted air collector system. Several storage concepts were considered, and best results are expected from using the floor slab and perhaps rock beds. A test building design is described. Performance simulation and thermal analysis on the design are described and annual performance estimates are given. Cost estimates are made. (LEW)
