The dense stellar wind surrounding the peculiar star MWC 349 was mapped with a resolution of approx.0.//4 x 0.//1. The r/sup -2/ density profile suggested by Olnon (1975) fits the maps very well. Our fluxes when combined with previously published data indicate a good fit to the spectrum by a power law ..cap alpha.. = +0.65. If the distance to MWC 349 is 2.1 kpc, then the mass loss rate is 3 x 10/sup -5/ M/sub sun/ yr/sup -1/.
