- Departement de Recherches en Securite, Cedex (France)
The aim of the Phebus-FP program is to investigate various phenomena governing the transport, deposition and retention of fission products in LWR severe accident conditions in order to improve the source term evaluation. The phenomena to be investigated are those taking place in the core region, in the primary system components and in the containment building, and are the result of interacting mechanisms which couple thermalhydraulics, physical chemistry and radioactive processes. The experiments will also study the degradation of high burn-up fuel, including the later phases of the in-core transient. So the programme will produce a significant, experimental data base for code validation in the field of LWR severe accidents.
