Inhibition of the epoxidation of olefins by organic hydroperoxides

The inhibition of the epoxidation of olefins by organic hydroperoxides, produced by products of this synthesis, was studied. A method is proposed for estimating the relative instability constants of the catalyst-inhibitor complex. It was shown that the effect of inhibition of the epoxidation reaction increases in the following series of compounds: epoxides < epoxyolefins < C/sub 1/ - C/sub 4/ alcohols < diepoxides < diols /approx equal/ unsaturated diols /much lt/ tetrols.
