Status of the TRIUMF optically polarized H/sup -/ ion source

The optically pumped polarized H/sup -/ ion source at TRIUMF is capable of producing approx. =10 ..mu..A of H/sup -/ at a polarization of approx. =65%, within a normalized emittance at the 60% contour level of 0.4 ..pi...mm.mrad for an ionizing field of 1.5 kG. Installation of the ion source on the TRIUMF cyclotron has begun and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 1987.
