Superconducting properties of the Ba/sub 1/minus//ital x//Rb/sub /ital x//BiO/sub 3/ system

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
Magnetization measurements revealed that Ba/sub 1/minus//ital x//Rb/sub /ital x//BiO/sub 3/ exhibits superconductivity at /ital T//sub /ital C//=29 K in the 0.28/le//ital x//le/0.44 range. In this range the room-temperature crystal structure belongs to the cubic phase. The /ital T//sub /ital C// value is independent of Rb concentration, although the lattice parameter decreases linearly with increasing /ital x/. Material parameters for Ba/sub 0.6/Rb/sub 0.4/BiO/sub 3/ are derived from measurements on the lower and upper critical fields. Comparison with Ba/sub 0.6/K/sub 0.4/BiO/sub 3/ shows that physical properties of the two superconductors are practically described by the same material parameters. The Sommerfeld parameter /gamma/ is found to be 2.4 mJ mole/sup /minus/1/ K/sup /minus/2/, which is in good agreement with the value estimated from the normal-state susceptibility.
