Enquiry about life conditions of trees in Brussels center (in French)

Life conditions of trees growing in Brussel's streets and avenues were studied in 1973. This survey includes: an inventory of trees (66.000 of which 3.000 dead and 20.000 ill), soil analysis (for nutrients and for gases), foliar analysis (determination of heavy metal contamination: Pb, Cd, Zn, Ni, Cu, Co, etc), determination of lead in soils and vegetation (as an indication of air pollution due to automobile exhaust's gases), observations of phenology, study of the different growing conditions (soil moisture, physical properties of soils), cases and plantation's techniques. Some results of this survey are discussed.
