Magnetism and superconductivity in the Y[sub 5[minus][ital x]]Dy[sub [ital x]]Os[sub 4]Ge[sub 10] system
- Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bombay-400005 (India)
In this paper we report the study of superconductivity and magnetism in Y[sub 5[minus][ital x]]Dy[sub [ital x]]Os[sub 4]Ge[sub 10] ([ital x]=0, 1, 1.75, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 3.75, 4, and 5). Here we observe magnetic ordering at 6.0 K in Dy[sub 5]Os[sub 4]Ge[sub 10]. We find the magnetic ordering temperature decreases linearly as [ital x] decreases from 5 to 3 and the superconducting transition temperature decreases as [ital x] increases from [ital x]=0 to 3 in Y[sub 5[minus][ital x]]Dy[sub [ital x]]Os[sub 4]Ge[sub 10]. We observe the coexistence of superconductivity and magnetism for [ital x]=3 from the measurement of the ac susceptibility and resistivity in small applied dc fields. Here we also report upper-critical-field studies of Y[sub 5[minus][ital x]]Dy[sub [ital x]]Os[sub 4]Ge[sub 10] for [ital x]=1.75 and 3.0.
